Scandinavian Biogas signs a Memorandum of Understanding with its Chinese partner, Resource (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd.
The agreement is based on a long-term relationship whereby Scandinavian Biogas technology will be used to produce biogas, primarily from wastewater plants. The agreement was signed in connection with the trade delegation visit to China of Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, Minister for Trade Eva Björling, and Minister for the Environment Anders Carlgren, in which the chairman of Scandinavian Biogas, Erik Danielsson, also participated.

Biogas facilities often have the potential of increasing their production by applying better technology.
“We are proud to be one of the first countries outside Sweden,” says Mr. Jia, CEO of Resource (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., “to adopt this new technology, allowing large-scale industrial biogas production. In this way, we also contribute to meeting the rapidly growing demand for biogas in the China region.”
In his speech at the Sino-Swedish Environmental Technology and Sustainable Development Symposium, Erik Danielsson pointed out that biogas was invented in China 3,500 years ago. Therefore, there is a great understanding and acceptance for the technology in China today, where the general interest for environmentally friendly technology is growing rapidly.
Ola Ödmark, Country Manager China of Scandinavian Biogas, commented, “We have been searching for a long time for a competent partner for our expansion plans in China. The Beijing Resource Group has demonstrated that they are a very capable partner within this field.”
Thomas Davidsson, CEO of Scandinavian Biogas, added, “There is an enormous interest in our knowledge and we are currently negotiating with customers in a large number of countries all over the world. The prices we now can offer are so attractive that biogas can out-compete fossil fuels even from a purely economic perspective.”

Scandinavian Biogas has developed unique methods for the industrial production of biogas at lower cost than previously possible. The company’s business concept is based on continuous improvement of the digestion process for producing biogas from biomass, primarily using the large amounts of waste formed during ethanol and biodiesel production and during sewage treatment.
In just a short period of time, Scandinavian Biogas has attracted considerable attention and received the CRS (Corporate Social Responsibility) Global Award in the year 2007. Company headquarters are in Uppsala, Sweden. Scandinavian Biogas is currently undergoing rapid expansion.
